About project

Memory Bridges: Lithuania–Iceland is a collaborative research project undertaken by scholars from Vilnius University and the University of Iceland. The project, which is funded by the Research Council of Lithuania, investigates the historical and cultural connections between Lithuania and Iceland while promoting international research collaboration.

A central outcome of the project is the development of an open-access digital research archive that  will bring together information on significant individuals, events, archival documents, media publications, literary works, and scholarly research relating to Lithuanian–Icelandic relations. While the project's primary focus is the period from 1922 to 1992, the archive will also include materials from other periods, particularly those documenting literary and other cultural exchanges.

The archive is intended as a sustainable, continuously expanding research resource for scholars, students, and the wider public interested in the shared history and cultural relations of Lithuania and Iceland.

If you are aware of archival materials, publications, photographs, personal collections, or other sources relevant to the historical and cultural relations between Lithuania and Iceland, we would be pleased to hear from you.

We also encourage researchers working on related topics to get in touch and share information about their work. Your contribution can help support future research and knowledge exchange, and we are open to exploring opportunities for joint activities and collaborations.
